2025 Norehyn Foundation
Scholarship
The Norehyn Foundation Scholarship was established in 2025 as a way to honour the exceptional teens in our
Teen Grief Peer Training Program at Abbotsford Hospice & Grief Support Society.

Abbotsford Hospice & Grief Support Society's (AHGSS) Teen Grief Peer Support Training Program is a 30-hour in-person training course for Grades 11 and 12 students in the community that provides teens with an introduction to grief and loss, as well as practical hands-on skills, knowledge, and strategies to provide peer bereavement support to others. This course requires participants to share on a personal level, connecting and learning alongside other teens in the community. We provide a safe, open and supportive learning environment, to foster the sharing of information, ideas and feelings regarding the universal experience of death, grief and loss.
AHGSS partners with the Abbotsford School District, providing students with valuable training and volunteer opportunities. Hours completed at AHGSS can be applied toward the Career Exploration component of the Career Life Connections course, offering hands-on experience in a meaningful and supportive environment. After graduating from our program, teens become youth grief ambassadors in their schools, helping to support their peers during difficult times. AHGSS is committed to fostering the next generation of community leaders by providing meaningful opportunities for growth, education, and hands-on experience. Through mentorship, training, and volunteerism, we empower young individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to make a lasting impact in their communities.
Thank you to the Norehyn Foundation for investing in AHGSS students who have graduated from our Teen Grief Peer Support Program.
