Meet Some of our Volunteers

“I am a wife and mother of 2 young kids and a funeral home manager with Henderson's Dignity Memorial.  I volunteer with Abbotsford Hospice Society by being a bereavement one-to-one companion and helping to facilitate the children's bereavement group.  I am passionate about educating people on grief issues, and am very proud to represent AHS through outreach and information sessions regarding grief within the community.  I whole-heartedly support Abbotsford's first adult hospice residence, Holmberg House, feeling that it is a community's responsibility and ethical obligation to provide a place for its residents to die with comfort, support and dignity.”

"I am a university student studying biology at UFV.  During the summer months I work as a beekeeper throughout the Fraser Valley.  After taking the 8 week Client Support Training course, I began volunteering at the Abbotsford Hospice Society on a weekly basis.  My role at AHS includes bereavement support through condolence cards as well as other office support."
